Escape 2 – browsing blogs

It’s Tuesday at 4.30 p.m. I got to say, it’s pretty busy for me today. My notepad ran out today from my writing/ doodling and so I got a new one and started writing down tasks to do today. I felt great checking off things on the list. Eat, check. Take a break, check. Blog…, check! Give me some credits, I even made dentist appointment.

Other than the making lists, I wanted to share the blog/ site I look at throughout my work day. They are as follows :

theeverygirl – “the ultimate online resource helping shape the creative, career-driven woman to experience her life better lived.” This is my go to website to look at skincare products (cheap ones at least, because they usually recommend  high end $300 per tiny bottles) I also use it for travel planning, lists in general, some financial advice and home care.

best target home finds 400

purewow – ” the women’s lifestyle destination dedicated to making your life easier, more interesting and of course, beautiful. ” They have this what to buy this month list, that comes out every month. I love that one, showing what is on sale. They also have travel section but I like the everygirl better. Purewow has better recipe than the everygirl. It also has different cities guide which I love, just to see what’s happening in my city.

apartment therapy – “Lifestyle and interior design community sharing design lessons, DIY how-tos, shopping guides and expert advice for creating a happy, beautiful home.” I don’t use this site much. One of my favorite category of this site is sale. It lets you know which home sales are happening and what items are their favorite.

Those are my top 3. There are others that I checked out such as brit+co, refinery29, women’s health, and the recently discovered goop (I am a noob to goop)

That’s about it. I am patiently waiting for the clock to strike 5.30 p.m.

Until next time.

Escape 1 – Poison Study

Today is what I would call a slow day.

I used to have this book website called shelfari but now it has merged with goodreads. So today I transferred all my books, that I have read, am reading and planning to read into this new website. (I know, it sounds boring but trust me, this is the highest point of my day going through my book list.)

One of the books I came across is called Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. I read that book back when I was in college and it was really good. I remembered this giddy feeling from reading this book. It felt nostalgic.

From what I recalled, Yelena was a food taster for this commander and developed magic powers (not from the food) and she couldn’t control it. The country was under attack at some point. Of course, there is a love interest for Yelena, named Valek.

“Yelena, you’ve driven me crazy. You’ve caused me considerable trouble and I’ve contemplated ending your life twice since I’ve known you.” Valek’s warm breath in my ear sent a shiver down my spine.
“But you’ve slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”
“That sounds more like a poison than a person,” was all I could say. His confession had both shocked and thrilled me.
“Exactly,” Valek replied. “You have poisoned me.”

I know this excerpt from Poison Study sounds cheesy but trust me, romance in the book takes backseat and the book focuses more on the conflict at hand, the war and Yelena’s power.

Overall it was a great book for me back then. I will probably go to strand and  see if they have it. I would like to read it again.

Apparently Yelena is suppoed to be 19 years old and Valek is 33. Here is an interview with Maria V. Snyder.

You can listen to Poison Study Audio book while working like me.

Until next time.

Introduction

This is my very first post. It’s 3.45 pm on Thursday and I am pretending to do hard work by making this wordpress. The intention of this blog is to give you links to interesting topics and issues and… blah blah blah. .There is no intention really. I am just bored, just like you readers who have found this blog. Congrats!

I am a 26 years old with a steady 9-5 (more like 8.30 to 5.30) corporate job. I will be posting random thoughts and cool things I have found whenever I have down time at work. (shhhhhh…) Let’s see who will catch me blogging.

Let the game begins!  May the odds be ever in your favor.
